Columbia Energy Sells the Last of its Generation
LCG, Oct. 11, 2000--Columbia Energy Group said this morning that it has agreed to sell the remaining generation assets of its Columbia Electric subsidiary to a joint venture between independent Delta Power Co. and John Hancock Life insurance Co.Terms of the sale were not disclosed.Columbia will sell its 50 percent interest in the Gregory Power Project, a 550 megawatt combined-cycle cogeneration facility near Corpus Christi, Texas, that provides both steam and electricity to an Alco alumina plant and sells excess electricity into the regional wholesale power market through a marketing agreement with Dynegy Inc.The deal also includes Columbia's 50 percent interest in a 117 megawatt combined-cycle cogeneration plant near Pedricktown, N.J., that provides steam and electricity to PolyOne Corp. and excess power into the PJM market.Also part of the sale is the company's 50 percent interest in a 47 megawatt unit that provides electricity to the City of Vineland (N.J.) Electric Utility and steam to the Progresso unit of Diageo Plc. A 10 percent interest in an 85 megawatt cogenerator in Rumford, Maine, is also part of the agreement.
