LCG, November 11, 2025--NextEra Energy Resources, together with local officials, today celebrated the recent start of operations at the Appleseed Energy Center, a 200-MW solar facility located in Cass County, Indiana. NextEra Energy Resources expects the completion of the facility will improve grid reliability and support Northern Indiana Public Service Company, LLC’s (NIPSCO) plans to deliver reliable energy across northern Indiana.

NRG Acquires 1,081 Megawatts of Delmarva Plants
LCG, June 25, 2001--NRG Energy, Inc. said this morning it has acquired 1,081 megawatts of baseload electric generating plants from Delmarva Power & Light Co., a subsidiary of Conectiv Inc. As part of the agreement, NRG entered into both short- and long-term purchase power contracts with Delmarva Power to provide energy and capacity for the Delmarva Peninsula.David H. Peterson, chief executive of NRG, said his company was "pleased to have a strong presence in the PJM (Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland) market" which he termed "a vibrant, relatively mature and well-functioning market for electricity."In a news release, NRG listed the plants acquired from Delmarva.- The 784 megawatt coal-fired Indian River Generating Station located on the Delmarva Peninsula near Millsboro, Del.
- The Vienna Generating Station, a 170 megawatt oil-fired generating station located along the Nanticoke River in the town of Vienna, Md.
- Of the 1,711 megawatt coal-fired Conemaugh Generating Station, NRG acquired 64 megawatts Friday and has plans to acquire another 66 megawatts after receiving regulatory approval. The plant is located on the Conemaugh River, approximately 60 miles east of Pittsburgh, Pa.
- NRG also acquired 63 megawatts of the 1,711 megawatt coal-fired Keystone Generating Station, located approximately 50 miles east of Pittsburgh. NRG intends to acquire another 42 megawatts pending regulatory approval.
- The BL England Generating Station, a 447 megawatt coal- and oil-fired generating facility on Great Egg Harbor Bay in the town of Beesley's Point, N.J.
- The Deepwater Generating Station, a 239 megawatt gas, oil and coal facility, which sits along the Delaware River near the town of Pennsville, N.J.
Craig A. Mataczynski, chief executive of the company's NRG North America subsidiary, said "it has been a long and difficult period of uncertainty for the employees who run these plants and we are glad to welcome them to NRG Energy."NRG said it expects to receive New Jersey Board of Public Utilities approval for the transactions sometime this summer.
