LCG, May 14, 2025--The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) accepted Dow's construction permit application to build X-energy Reactor Company, LLC's ("X-energy") first small modular reactor (SMR) plant to power a chemical facility in Seadrift, Texas. Dow's wholly-owned subsidiary, Long Mott Energy LLC, is developing the project to provide Dow's UCC1 Seadrift Operations manufacturing site with safe, reliable, and clean power and industrial steam to replace existing energy and steam assets that are approaching end-of-life. The project is part of a demonstration project supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and, if approved, would be the first advanced nuclear facility at an industrial site in the United States.

Texas Employs New Disclosure Measures
LCG, May 28, 2002-The Texas Public Utilities Commission has decided to require more public disclosure in electricity trading and is holding discussions with energy companies. The PUC is negotiating with energy traders, including American Electric Power, Mirant, Reliant Energy, Constellation Energy Group, and TXU, to recover $29 million that the PUC asserts was lost due to the manipulation of delivery schedules. A memo released Friday discusses the exploitive power schedules of two days last summer that may have resulted in the possible loss of the $29 million in question.If no resolution is reached, the PUC may investigate market violations and employ sanctions. The PUC staff has already been ordered to seek sanctions against Enron, which has not taken part in the talks and continues to withhold information. Enron insists generation information about the two days and details about scheduled energy and energy requirements is confidential, but the PUC believes this information should be released and posted on the Internet. Companies trading within the domain of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas must give the PUC an affidavit asserting that company regulations are in place preventing gaming and market manipulation.
