MidAmerican Hopes to Build 310-MW Wind Farm

LCG, Mar. 25, 2003--A unit of MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co., MidAmerican Energy, has plans to build a wind farm in Iowa by 2006 that would be capable of generating up to 310 megawatts.

The investment needed to build the project is estimated at $323 million, based on 180 to 200 turbines. Approval will need to be given by the Iowa Public Utilities Board, and legal provisions will need to be enacted regarding ownership of renewable energy generation within Iowa.

MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co. is majority-owned by Berkshire Hathaway Inc., the holding company overseen by Warren Buffett.
