LCG, March 205, 2025--The Southwest Power Pool (SPP) today announced it will soon be the first regional transmission organization (RTO) in the nation to provide full services in both the Eastern and Western Interconnections of the U.S. power grid. On March 20, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) unanimously approved Southwest Power Pool’s amended tariff that includes provisions that enable Western members to join the RTO. The expansion of the SPP RTO is scheduled to go live April 1, 2026.

LCG, March 18, 2025--RWE and Meta today announced a new power purchase agreement (PPA) for offtake from RWE's 200-MW Waterloo Solar Project, which is located in Bastrop County, Texas. Under the agreement, Meta will purchase 100% of the output from the solar facility, which will support Meta's goal of matching its electricity needs with 100 percent clean energy. The project is scheduled to commence onsite construction in late 2025.

Thomas Ashburn, a 33-year veteran of Hewlett-Packard Co., has been elected a director of Montana Power Co. Ashburn recently retired as vice president of H-P and general manager of H-P Services, a 28,000-employee unit that provides consulting, outsourcing,education and support to H-P customers.Charles Attal III has been elected to the newly created position of vice president anddeputy general counsel by Teco Energy Inc.Robert D. Kelly has been appointed president of Calpine Finance Co., responsible for the management of corporate and project financing activities for Calpine Corp.. He also serves as senior vice president of the parent company.Thomas Knudsen, who for the past sixteen months has been interim chief financial officer of Philadelphia Gas Works, has been selected to be interim chief executive and president following the resignation from that post of Kumar Kishinchand, who will return to the Philadelphia Water Department as commissioner.Jerry Langdon will join El Paso Corp. as president of its El Paso Gas Texas Pipeline L.P. subsidiary. Currently a member of the Intrastate Oil and Gas Compact Commission representing the State of Texas, he served two terms as a commissioner on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission from 1988 to 1993.Carolyn W. Marsh has been named senior vice president for corporate acquisitions by Calpine Corp. She recently led Calpine's transaction team in acquiring Calgary-based Encal Energy, a leading Canadian natural gas and petroleum exploration and development company.Sheila McDevitt, formerly vice president and general counsel of Teco Energy Inc., has been named senior vice president, general counsel and chief legal officer.Eric N. Pryor has been promoted to senior vice president for finance by Calpine Corp.. Skau has been named assistant vice president for human resources by Laclede Gas Co., effective August 1. He will replace Marvin E. McMillian who is retiring September 1.Karla Stoedter has been assigned by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as senior resident inspector at Exelon Generating Company's Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station nearCordova, Ill.
