First Solar and PNM Sign Agreement for Solar PV Projects in New Mexico

LCG, January 21, 2010--First Solar announced Tuesday that it executed an agreement with PNM to build 22 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) electric generating capacity at five sites within PNM's service territory in New Mexico.

"We are proud to have a company with First Solar's internationally recognized expertise and reputation building these facilities to help us meet the growing energy needs of our customers," said Pat Vincent-Collawn, PNM president and CEO.

State regulators must now review and approve the contract between PNM and First Solar. The contract would be the first contract under the terms of a new agreement PNM reached with state environmental, renewable energy and governmental entities. The new agreement with state entities is scheduled to be filed with the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission on Monday and targets installing a total of 45 MW of utility scale solar PV to PNM's system in the next two years.

First Solar will install the systems and use PV panels it manufactures. Construction is scheduled to commence following regulatory approval and to end by late 2011. When the projects are completed, PNM will own the projects.
