Duke Breaks Ground on Pisgah Ridge Solar Project
LCG, November 1, 2021--Duke Energy Sustainable Solutions announced last week that it has broken ground on the 250-MW Pisgah Ridge Solar project, located southeast of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. The project is the company’s largest solar project in Texas to date.
Duke will own and operate the Pisgah Ridge Solar project, and engineering and construction will be undertaken by Moss. The project is scheduled to commence operations by the end of 2022.
Charles River Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company, has signed a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) for 102 MW of the project over 15 years. Two other unnamed corporations have signed separate 15-year VPPA’s for the remaining solar capacity. The VPPA’s were announced last June.
Duke Energy Sustainable Solutions now operates nearly 1,500 MW of wind, 500 MW of solar and a 36 MW battery storage facility in Texas.
