LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

LCG, January 8, 2026--Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) announced today that it has selected Siemens Energy to provide steam turbine generator sets for B&W’s groundbreaking project to install and deliver one GW of power for an Applied Digital AI Factory. B&W and Siemens have entered into an agreement for a limited notice to proceed to secure the turbine sets, which will enable B&W to deliver power for the project by the end of 2028. The estimated cost of the project is approximately $2 billion. The full contract release is expected in the first quarter of 2026.

He moves to the utility holding company from McKinsey & Co. where he was a principal in the global energy practice and a member of the European petroleum, electric utility, and chemicals practice.Edwin A. Guiles has been named group president of Sempra Energy Corp.s regulated business units and chairman of both San Diego Gas & Electric Co. and Southern California Gas Co., succeeding Warren Mitchell, who retired last month as group president and chairman of both utilities. Previously, Guiles served as president of SDG&E since 1998.Walter M. Higgins has returned to Sierra Pacific Resources Corp. as chairman, president and chief executive officer and will make his offices in Las Vegas. Higgins occupied those positions with Sierra Pacific from 1994 to 1998, leaving to become chairman and chief executive officer of AGL Resources Inc. in Atlanta. Lee W. Hogan, vice chairman of the Reliant Energy Inc., has resigned to pursue personal interests. He joined Houston Lighting & Power Co. in 1990 and became a director of parent holding company Houston Industries Inc. in 1995, before the name of the company was changed to Reliant Energy.Steve Philley, vice president for energy supply with TXU Corp. operating subsidiary TXU Electric & Gas Co., has been appointed chief executive officer of TXU Australia, replacing Bob Shapard, who recently announced his resignation to take a position as executive vice president and chief financial officer with Ultramar Diamond Shamrock Corporation.Paula Rosput, president of Atlanta Gas Light Co., has been elected president and chief executive officer of AGL Resources Inc., replacing Walter M. Higgins who resigned in order to return to Sierra Pacific Resources Corp.
