LCG, June 26, 2025--Invenergy today announced that they and Meta Platforms, Inc. have signed four new clean energy agreements that total an additional 791 MW of procured solar and wind capacity to support Meta's near-term operations, data center growth, and clean energy goals.

LCG, June 23, 2025--The Governor of New York today directed the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to develop and construct an advanced nuclear power plant in upstate New York to deliver zero-emission power that supports a reliable and affordable electric grid. NYPA will lead the effort to develop at least one new nuclear energy facility with a combined capacity of at least one gigawatt (GW) of electricity, either alone or in partnership with private entities. The directive builds on the Governor’s 2025 State of the State to develop nuclear energy plans in New York.

PPL Breaks Ground for Connecticut Peaker
LCG, Aug. 18, 2000--PPL Wallingford Energy yesterday said its contractors have begun building the companys 250 megawatt, natural gas-fired turbine peaking power plant in Wallingford, Conn. Project managers expect to facility to begin producing power next summer.PPL Wallingford is an ad hoc subsidiary of PPL Global, which is a subsidiary of PPL Corp. The "PPL" in all these names stems from "Pennsylvania Power & Light."PPL said the plant will supply power to the New England grid during periods of highest demand, as on the afternoon of a hot, humid day when everyones air-conditioner is running and whole power prices are at their highest.The quick-starting gas turbines, which are similar to the engines on a jet airplane, can be fired up at a moments notice to take advantage of market conditions, and shut down when power prices begin to drop.The new plant will be built at the site of an idle conventional power plant owned by the Town of Wallingford. The old powerhouse will be partially demolished to make room for PPLs peaker.
