Google and AES Sign Agreements for Co-Located Generation and Data Center in Texas

LCG, February 24, 2026--The AES Corporation (AES) and Google today announced agreements for clean power generation that will be co-located with a new Google data center in Wilbarger County, Texas. The agreements include a 20-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) for co-located power generation. These coordinated energy projects and powered land will enable Google to rapidly expand its operations to meet demand for core services, while AES will expand its power generation portfolio.

Amazon Announces Plans to Invest $12 Billion in Data Center Campuses in Louisiana

LCG, February 23, 2026--Amazon today announced plans to invest $12 billion to develop and construct state-of-the-art data center campuses in northwest Louisiana that will support cloud computing technologies. Amazon is partnering with STACK Infrastructure, the developer and owner of the campuses, to lead the construction and development of the data center facilities. Amazon has already invested in solar energy projects in Louisiana, bringing up to 200 MW of new carbon-free energy onto the grid.

Rafael Abati has been appointed general manager of Sempra Energy Europe Espaa, the new Madrid office of Sempra Energy Inc.'s trading subsidiary. Previously, he was with Madrid-based SKS Energy Trading, which he co-founded in 1998.

Douglas T. Hickey has been appointed a director of Plug Power Inc., a maker of fuel cells. He is chief executive and a director of Critical Path Inc., a provider of business-to-business Internet messaging services for the wireless, Internet-centric, telecommunication and corporate markets.

V. J. Horgan has returned to Dallas as president of TXU Energy Trading, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TXU Corp. She most recently was president of Aquila Merchant EnergyPartners in Kansas City.

Changes at Energy East Corp.
Energy East Corp., the former New York State Electric & Gas Co., has announced changes in its management and board resulting from its mergers with CMP Group and CTG Resources.

  • David T. Flanagan, president and chief executive of CMP Group, has been named president and a director of Energy East.

  • David M. Jagger, president and treasurer of Jagger Brothers Inc. and a former CMP director, has joined the Energy East board.

  • Peter J. Moynihan, a former senior vice president and chief investment officer of Unum Corp. and previously a director of CMP, has become an Energy East director.

  • Michael W. Tomasso, vice president of Tomasso Brothers Inc. and a former CTG Resources director, is now a director of Energy East.
