LCG, October 5, 2026--The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) today announced a conditional loan commitment of up to $4.2 billion to finance nuclear uprates and modernization across Vistra’s nuclear fleet in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The projects are expected to preserve nearly 4 GW of carbon-free, baseload power and add 433 MW of new nuclear capacity that will support the growing electricity demand across the PJM region.

LCG, October 2, 2026--We Energies, a subsidiary of Milwaukee-based WEC Energy Group, and Oracle today announced an agreement that would allow Oracle to "subscribe" to between 10 percent and 20 percent of the Point Beach Nuclear Plant’s electricity generation. Oracle will provide the carbon-free energy to Project Lighthouse, the data center campus in Port Washington that Oracle is co-developing with artificial intelligence firm OpenAI.

Enron Shelves Bosnia Projects in Political Uncertainty
LCG, Feb. 8, 2001Enron Corp. said this morning that it would hold off on several hundred million dollars worth of projects in Bosnia pending resolution of the Balkan country's political problems.Yesterday, the Bosnian parliament was unable to agree on a new prime minister as a power struggle, dating to last November's elections, continued between nationalists and Western-backed political groups.An Enron spokeswoman in Bosnia, Zdenka Gast, said the ministerial vacuum left the company no one in the government with whom to negotiate. She said Enron was close to signing deals with the Bosnian-Croat government power company Elekroprivreda HZ Herceg-Bosna and metals firm Soko about construction of two hydroelectric power plants and one thermal power plant.Those projects will be tabled until political uncertainty is resolved, she said. "We are concerned about the projects that we have been negotiating with the authorities here over last year," Gast told a news conference.
