LCG, May 14, 2025--The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) accepted Dow's construction permit application to build X-energy Reactor Company, LLC's ("X-energy") first small modular reactor (SMR) plant to power a chemical facility in Seadrift, Texas. Dow's wholly-owned subsidiary, Long Mott Energy LLC, is developing the project to provide Dow's UCC1 Seadrift Operations manufacturing site with safe, reliable, and clean power and industrial steam to replace existing energy and steam assets that are approaching end-of-life. The project is part of a demonstration project supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and, if approved, would be the first advanced nuclear facility at an industrial site in the United States.

Perry Nuke Coasts Down to Refuel;Posts 98.2 Percent Capacity Factor
LCG, Feb. 16, 2001First Energy Corp.'s Perry nuclear power plant was reported at 87 percent of capacity this morning in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission daily plant status report. The reactor is coasting down to a refueling outage after running for 655 days at a capacity factor of 98.2 percent.Perry was on-line for all but 11 of those 644 days and during the period ran off its longest continuous run a stretch of 399 days.During the refueling outage, workers will replace a turbine rotor, which will be the final step in boosting the plant's output from 1,250 megawatts to 1,320 megawatts. About 1,000 workers will also attend to replacing more than a third of the reactor's fuel assemblies and performing other maintenance and repair operations that require a cold plant."Our work schedule is ambitious, but I am confident our employees will meet the challenge," saidJohn Wood, site vice president at Perry. "We expect to complete some 7,500 maintenance activities during the refueling to help continue strong operations until our next refueling in 2003."
