LCG, June 26, 2025--Invenergy today announced that they and Meta Platforms, Inc. have signed four new clean energy agreements that total an additional 791 MW of procured solar and wind capacity to support Meta's near-term operations, data center growth, and clean energy goals.

LCG, June 23, 2025--The Governor of New York today directed the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to develop and construct an advanced nuclear power plant in upstate New York to deliver zero-emission power that supports a reliable and affordable electric grid. NYPA will lead the effort to develop at least one new nuclear energy facility with a combined capacity of at least one gigawatt (GW) of electricity, either alone or in partnership with private entities. The directive builds on the Governor’s 2025 State of the State to develop nuclear energy plans in New York.

Mark Dempsey has been named West Virginia president for American Electric Power Co. Inc., effective immediately. He succeeds Stuart Solomon, who was named AEP vice president-public policy earlier this year.Lewis Hay III, currently president of FPL Group Inc.'s independent power production company, will succeed James Broadhead as president and chief executive of the parent company, effective immediately. Broadhead, chief executive since 1989, will remain as chairman through the end of the year.J. Gordon Hurst, executive vice president of Vectren Corp. and president of its Utility Group has announced his retirement after 39 years with the company and its predecessors. Hurst joined Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Co. in 1966 while still a student at the University of Evansville.Kristin M. Kamm has joined AGL Resources Inc. as chief information officer. She comes to AGL from BellSouth, where she served as CIO for consumer and interconnect services.Clyde C. Osterholtz has been assigned by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as senior resident inspector at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, a nuclear power plant owned by Southern California Edison Co. near San Clemente, Calif. He most recently was resident inspector at the Fort Calhoun Station in Nebraska.Scott N. Smith has joined American Electric Power Co. Inc. as vice president and chief risk officer. He will be responsible for enterprise-wide risk management, including oversight of commodity, operational, credit, interest rate and currency risk across all business units and functional areas. Smith previously was vice president of risk management for Global Consumer Bank, a divisionof Citigroup.Glen Thomas has been confirmed as a member of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission by the state Senate. He will replace PUC Chairman John M. Quain, whose term expired. Thomas has served as deputy policy director in the Office of Gov. Ridge.Mario Max Yzaguirre, who recently resigned as president of Enron de Mexico, will become a member of the Public Utility Commission of Texas, filling the vacancy left by Pat Wood III. Wood stepped down to join the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on an appointment from President Bush.
