LCG, September 9, 2026--The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) yesterday announced the financial close of a loan of up to $1.9 billion to NextEra Energy to support the finance of the restart of Iowa's only nuclear power plant, the Duane Arnold Energy Center. EDF has now financed three, carbon-free nuclear plant restarts and completed four concurrent conditional commitments and financial closings under the current Administration. This latest investment, along with the others, advance the Administration's energy dominance agenda and Executive Order, Reinvigorating the Nuclear Industrial Base.

240 Megawatt Plant Planned for Great Falls, Montana
LCG, June 15, 2001--NorthWestern Corp. announced yesterday that it plans to construct a 240 megawatt power plant near Great Falls, Mont., that it says will create a pool of reasonably priced, reliableelectricity for Montana industrial customers.Much of the generating capacity in Montana was sold by Montana Power Co. to PPL Inc. of Pennsylvania. NorthWestern is in the process of acquiring Montana Power's electricity and natural gas transmission and distribution businesses.The new power plant will be located about a mile north of Great Falls. The project involves the construction of three 80-megawatt combined cycle, natural gas-fired generating units, with the first unit projected to come on line in the fall of 2001, the second phase in the summer of 2002 and the third unit in the fall of 2002."Great Falls offers the best site for building this vital new source of power for Montana," said Mike Hanson, chief executive of NorthWestern Services Group. "We understand how important it is to bring this plant on line quickly, so we will continue to work hard to meet our aggressive development timetable." Hanson said that generating turbines have been secured for the project and that air quality permit applications are being filed with the Montana Division of Environmental Quality. Securing the necessary permits for the plant and meeting other considerations are required before construction can begin.
