Anna R. Cablik has been elected a director of Southern Co. unit Georgia Power Co. She is owner and president of Anatek Inc., a contractor specializing in steel construction, and Anasteel & Supply Co., a steel-fabricating firm.

R. Martin Chavez has been appointed a director of Public Service Co. of New Mexico. He is chairman and chief executive officer of Kiodex, Inc., a technology and servicescompany that provides Web-based risk management and trading solutions to large corporate clientsand global exchanges.

Harry E. Dowling has been named president and chief operating officer of the PG Energy Division of Southern Union Co., effective immediately. He replaces Thomas F. Karam who, earlier this year, was named Southern Union's president and chief operating officer.

Curt L. Hebert Jr., who is stepping down as chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, will join Entergy Corp. on September 1 as executive vice president for external affairs. He succeeds Horace Webb, who will become president and chief executive of the Entergy Charitable Foundation.

Shelley Hurley will assume the newly created role of chief risk officer for Entergy Corp. She has been a partner with Accenture LLP and a member of the leadership team ofthat firm's trading and risk management practice.

Gerald L. Shaheen has been elected to the board of directors of UtiliCorp United Inc. He is a group president of Caterpillar Inc., responsible for the design, development and production of the majority of Caterpillar's extensive line of machines, and marketing and sales operations in North America.

Jeffrey K. Skilling, chief executive of Enron Corp., resigned unexpectedly "for personal reasons." Chairman Kenneth Lay will reassume the chief executive's post, which he had turned over to Skilling in February.

Richard J. Smith, currently is president of retail operations for Entergy Corp., will be promoted to group president for utility operations, effective Jan. 1, 2002. He will succeed Jerry Jackson, who will retire on March 1, 2003, after 22 years with the company.

Anastasia M. Song has been elected a director of fuel cell maker Plug Power Inc. She is a director with Global Capital Finance Americas LLC, a privately owned international asset-based financial advisory firm formed from Credit Suisse First Boston's global lease finance group and InnoCap LLC's U.S. leasing team.

Richard W. Ussery has been elected a director of Southern Co. unit Georgia Power Co. He is chairman and chief executive of Total System Services Inc., one of the largest processors of bankcards in the United States and a subsidiary company of Synovus Financial Corp.

Pat Wood III has been named by the Bush administration as chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, replacing Curt Hebert, who resigned to join Entergy Corp. as an executive vice president. Wood is a former head of the Texas Public Utility Commission.
