NextEra Energy and Google Collaborate on Accelerating Nuclear Power Deployment

LCG, October 28, 2025--NextEra Energy and Google yesterday announced two agreements that will help meet growing electricity demand from artificial intelligence (AI) with clean, reliable, 24/7 nuclear power and strengthen the nation's nuclear leadership. First, Google signed a new, 25-year agreement for power generated at the Duane Arnold Energy Center, Iowa's only nuclear power facility. Capacity Boosts Set for Comanche Peak, Harris Nukes

LCG, Oct. 19, 2001--The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved requests for generating capacity increases to three nuclear reactors at power plants owned by TXU Electric Co. and Carolina Power & Light Co.

TXU will increase the output of its 1,159 megawatt Comanche Peak Unit 1 by 1.4 percent and Unit 2 by 0.4 percent. Unit 2 has already been upgraded by 1 percent. The Comanche Peak plant is located about 40 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

The NRC has also approved a request from Carolina Power & Light Co. to increase the capacity of its 900 megawatt Shearon Harris nuclear power plant near Raleigh, N.C., by about 4.5 percent, or 51 megawatts.

The NRC Website was still shut down this morning, as the agency continues to review whether any information it provides could be useful to terrorists.
