EPA Issues Class VI Well Permits to ExxonMobil for Carbon Capture and Storage Project in Texas

LCG, October 21, 2025--The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today issued three final Underground Injection Control (UIC) Class VI permits to ExxonMobil for their Rose Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Project located in Jefferson County, Texas. Under the Safe Drinking Water Act, these permits allow ExxonMobil to convert three existing test wells permitted by the state to carbon dioxide (CO2) storage injection wells for long-term storage.

Holtec Receives New Nuclear Fuel at Palisades for Planned Restart

LCG, October 20, 2025--Holtec International announced today that the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant site in Michigan has received new nuclear fuel – 68 assemblies in total – that achieves a major milestone on the path to restarting the plant. The 800-MW facility was shutdown and decommissioned in 2022 due primarily for economic reasons; however, Holtec is progressing towards restarting the original unit by the end of this year, pending all necessary federal regulatory reviews and approvals. Achieving a successful restart of a shutdown nuclear unit will be a historic first for the nuclear industry.

Geoffrey S. Chatas has been named vice president for investor relations and corporatefinance by American Electric Power Co. Inc., effective January 1. He has been vice president for finance and assistant treasurer for two years.

Cary J. Claiborne has been appointed vice president for financial planning and analysis by Constellation Energy Group Inc. He joins the Baltimore-based utility holding company from Home Depot Corp., where he led the company's financial planning and analysis activities.

Shaker Kargar, an Uzbek member of Afghanistan's Northern Alliance, has been named minister of water and power in the provisional government of Afghanistan The selection was one of 30 made by four delegations in Bonn representing the Northern Alliance, the Rome group of exiles loyal to former King Mohammad Zaher Shah, and two smaller exile groups based in Cyprus and Peshawar, Pakistan.

Ellen Lindemann has been named vice president for product development and implementation by The Southern Co. A 23-year veteran of the company, she most recently served as product development director.

Kati F. Miller has been named vice president for human resources by Calpine Corp. She moves to Calpine after 17 years with Bank of America where she was most recently vicepresident for corporate compensation.

Joseph P. Tomasik has been elected vice president and chief development officer of CMS Energy Corp., replacing Doris Galvin who has resigned to pursue other interests. Tomasik, a 22-year veteran of CMS, has been vice president in charge of the company's regional development activities for Africa and the Middle East since 1998.

South Jersey Industries Announces Changes
South Jersey Industries Inc. has announced the following organizational changes at subsidiary South Jersey Energy, effective January 1, 2002.

  • Michael J. Renna, who formerly served as director of business and product development for South Jersey Industries, was elected a vice president of South Jersey Energy.

  • Joseph A. Rodio was promoted to assistant vice president of operations from director of gas marketing.

  • David Robbins Jr., who is manager of financial reporting for non-regulatory accounts for South Jersey Industries has taken on added responsibilities as treasurer of South Jersey Energy, effective December 1.
