LCG, July 2, 2025--Alliant Energy today announced plans to add up to 1,000 MW of wind energy generating capacity in Iowa to meet demand and ensure reliable, affordable energy for its customers. The plans are included in a filing with the Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC), and the company anticipates a decision from the IUC in the first quarter of 2026.

AES Gets Go-ahead for White Nile Hydro Facility
LCG, Dec. 21, 2001--AES Corp. announced today that the Uganda government has granted its AES Nile Power subsidiary final approval to begin the construction of a $550 million, 200 megawatt hydroelectric facility on the Nile River at a site about 6 miles north of Lake Victoria.The AES unit will own, operate and construct the hydroelectric facility and related transmission lines and two substations. A local partner, Madhvani International, will take a minority interest in the business. The facility will take about four years to complete.Power will be sold under a 30-year power purchase agreement to the government-owned Uganda Electricity Board and its successor once the UEB is privatized. The government of Uganda has guaranteed payment under the agreement.
