Calpine and ExxonMobil Sign CO2 Transportation and Storage Agreement for CCS Project in Texas

LCG, April 24, 2025--Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil) announced yesterday an agreement with Calpine Corporation (Calpine) to transport and permanently store up to 2 million metric tons per annum (MTA) of CO2 from Calpine’s Baytown Energy Center, a natural gas-fired facility located near Houston, Texas. Settlement Reached on Montana Power Power Sale

LCG, Dec. 31, 2001--Montana Power Co. said Friday that it has reached a settlement on issues related to the sale of Montana Power Co.'s electric utility to Northwestern Corp., as well as electric restructuring costs in addition to other matters that will allow the company to become a telecommunications firm.

Among the issues settled between Montana Power, Northwestern, the Montana Consumer Counsel that represents residential and small commercial customers, and the Montana Large Customer Group, was a stipulation for Montana Power and Northwestern to establish a $30 million account that will be used to provide a credit for MPC electric distribution customers.

The subsidy, to be provided for one year beginning July 1, will protect retail customers from the full effect of a 20 percent rate increase, limiting the boost to about 12.8 percent.

"This is a major step in completing the transition of Montana Power from a diversified energy utility into a broadband telecommunications company under Touch America," said Bob Gannon, chief executive officer. "We have received all the necessary approvals except that of the (Montana Public Service Commission), and we expect this settlement will facilitate this last approval."
