Dynegy Inc. has named Glenn F. Tilton and John S. Watson to its Board of Directors. Tilton, who was previously chairman and chief executive officer of Texaco Inc. last year, serves as vice chairman of ChevronTexaco Corp.'s board of directors. Watson is vice president and chief financial officer of ChevronTexaco, and serves as the ChevronTexaco merger integration executive. He was last vice president, finance and chief financial officer of Chevron.Steve Malcolm, company president and chief operating officer of Williams, has been named chief executive officer. He will remain company president. He will vacate the chief operating officer position, which will not be filled. Chairman Keith E. Bailey is vacating the CEO position, and is expected to announce his retirement during the May 17 shareholders meeting. Malcolm, who joined Williams in 1984, was named president and CEO of Williams' energy services group in 1998.
Several changes are effective within Entergy Nuclear's management, and announced by chief executive officer Jerry Yelverton. John Herron will become senior vice president of Indian Point Energy Center, in Buchanan, New York. Herron joined Entergy in 2001 and has nuclear experience with numerous other companies and agencies. Joe Venable will become vice president of operations, the position being vacated by Herron. Venable was general manager of Entergy's Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Port Gibson, Miss., from 1998, and has 21 years of nuclear experience. Jay Thayer will succeed Venable as vice president of operations support for Entergy Nuclear's South region. The assignment will last four to six months, whereupon a position with Entergy's Norhteast region will be ready. Thayer has 27 years of experience in nuclear operations, engineering and project management, and last was in charge of Duke Engineering & Services' decommissioning business unit.
Covanta issued news of the resignation of executive vice president and chief financial officer Edward Moneypenny, effective February 1, 2002. Moneypenny will be senior vice president and chief financial officer of 7-Eleven, Inc. Robert S. Shapard is to become executive vice president and chief financial officer of Covanta, effective February 4, 2002. Shapard most recently was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Ultramar Diamond Shamrock, one of North America's largest independent refining and marketing companies. He will have responsibility in the areas of corporate finance, strategic planning, treasury, investor relations, accounting, risk management, tax and internal audit.
Keyspan has announced that vice chairman and chief operating officer Craig Matthews is to retire in March. Matthews came to the company in 1965 and became vice chairman and chief operating officer in March 2001. No successor has yet been selected.
Gerald Luterman, also of Keyspan, has been promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer. John F. Haran has been promoted to senior vice president of Gas Operations New York.
Ken Vowles, an executive director at ScottishPower, will retire on March 31st. Vowles, who joined the company from National Power in 1990, was awarded an OBE in the Queen's birthday honors for his long career in the power generation industry.
CMS Energy chairman and CEO William T. McCormick, Jr. has been appointed by U.S. Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham to the U.S. Department of Energy's Electricity Advisory Board.
