LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

LCG, January 8, 2026--Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) announced today that it has selected Siemens Energy to provide steam turbine generator sets for B&W’s groundbreaking project to install and deliver one GW of power for an Applied Digital AI Factory. B&W and Siemens have entered into an agreement for a limited notice to proceed to secure the turbine sets, which will enable B&W to deliver power for the project by the end of 2028. The estimated cost of the project is approximately $2 billion. The full contract release is expected in the first quarter of 2026.

A Note on Ric Teague, Founding Editor
EnergyOnline Daily News has been informed, enlivened, and enriched by Founding Editor Ric Teague since March 1996, but as of the third week of January, Ric has been forced to step back from his day-to-day involvement with EnergyOnline in order to focus on mounting medical problems.Ric is a long-time resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, a graduate of Stanford University (former Managing Editor, The Stanford Daily), a holder of degrees in journalism and business, a veteran of the Korean War, a professional musician, an artist, a management consultant and an aviator, but those few details do not begin to convey his wealth of experience as a man of the world. His interests have carried him far. Most recently, he published a compendium of U.S. naval history covering the past two-hundred years.He is an expert on matters lingual, historical, rhetorical, mechanical, and practical, as well as delightfully trivial. He is incisive and direct, and a master of refinement and etiquette. Ric is the embodiment of dedication, valor, professionalism, and willpower.We will miss Rics presence, his spirit and his humor at LCG, and our thoughts are with him in his present situation.
