LCG, April 17, 2025--The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), and its Regional Entities today issued a joint staff report concluding that the nation’s Bulk-Power System (BPS) "performed well during successive cold weather events in January 2025, without major issues in either the natural gas or electric systems."

LCG, April 15, 2025--Matrix Renewables announced today the successful commissioning of the Pleasant Valley Solar 1 power generation facility in Ada County, Idaho. The 200-MWac solar facility includes a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) that was secured through negotiation with Meta and Idaho Power. Matrix Renewables states the facility is the largest operational solar facility in Idaho Power's system. Sundt Renewables, the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services provider, completed construction of the project on March 2nd.

British Energy Minister Says Nuclear Power Necessary
LCG, Feb. 9, 2002--Prior to the release of a government report on British energy security, the energy minister Brian Wilson spoke in an interview with The Guardian about what he saw as the future role of nuclear power in Britain.Wilson emphasized two trends - a significant increase in use of renewable energy resources, which he said could increase energy prices, and "a seller's market" in natural gas, which is being used by most new generating plants.The minister is one of the few Labour party leaders who supports nuclear power. He said that nuclear investment might need assistance in the form of tax and planning allowances in order to make it competitive.Other parts of the upcoming report, from a trade and industry select committee, advocates a target of 20% of energy supply from renewable resources by 2020. Wilson said that the country's climate change levy, assessed on emissions by power plants, would actually assist nuclear power. He said, "there is no contradiction between being pro-renewable and pro-nuclear."
