LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

LCG, January 8, 2026--Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) announced today that it has selected Siemens Energy to provide steam turbine generator sets for B&W’s groundbreaking project to install and deliver one GW of power for an Applied Digital AI Factory. B&W and Siemens have entered into an agreement for a limited notice to proceed to secure the turbine sets, which will enable B&W to deliver power for the project by the end of 2028. The estimated cost of the project is approximately $2 billion. The full contract release is expected in the first quarter of 2026.

In Memoriam – Ric Teague July 30, 1929 - March 3, 2002
It is with great sadness that we bring news of the passing of our founding editor, Frederick "Ric" Teague on Sunday, March 3, 2002 after a battle against cancer. He was 72. Ric was born and raised in Palo Alto from an old California family, at a time when deer and bear could be found in abundance. A prolific storyteller, incisive thinker and journalist, Ric was told by Herb Caen, Jesus, Ric, can you write! and indeed, he could write.Ric graduated from Stanford after serving with the U.S. Army in Korea. While at Stanford, he was managing editor of The Stanford Daily. He was later a copyboy at the San Francisco Chronicle, following his parents, who both used to work for the old Call Bulletin. Over his career, he worked at a variety of jobs in San Francisco from advertising to printing to management consulting. From 1966 to 1979, Ric worked for the George S. May International Company, a management consulting firm, as Project Supervisor. Beginning in 1996, he was the editor and writer of EnergyOnline Daily News. Ric was also a member of the Naval Order of the United States (NOUS), a national organization of naval and other military veterans. He began and edited the monthly historical journal Mission: History covering past naval and Marine battle engagements.Ric had a wide range of interests and retained information that others might quickly forget. He was an expert on the subject of baseball, and was pitcher on the Stanford baseball team. From his youth as a trumpet player and moonlighting in various bands in San Francisco in the late 1950s, he was a jazz aficionado. He was an avid gardener and knew all about pepper plants, growing over 50 different varieties each season.Ric is survived by his sister Winifred Adams of Sunnyvale, California, four nieces and one nephew.A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2002 starting at 2 P.M. at the Alpine Beer Garden (formally Rosottis) in Portola Valley, California.Contributions can be made in Rics name to the American Cancer Society.
