CA Generators to be Back Online this July
LCG, May 31, 2002--One of two Southern California generators previously scheduled to provide 450 MW in capacity over a year ago will be up and running in July. The AES-owned generators were given special treatment last year because of the energy crisis, and environmental review was limited in order that the two generators could be restarted expeditiously. Complications hampered the operation of the Huntington Beach generators, including $120 million in repair work and disagreements over the payment of contractor PMSI, which filed for bankruptcy in March. PMSI asserts that AES still owes it $62 million.
