LCG, October 14, 2026--American Electric Power (AEP) today announced plans for a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google, under which AEP will invest approximately $4 billion to advance a new 702-MW fuel cell generation project located near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Google will acquire power from Cheyenne Fuel Cell, LLC, which is approximately 92 percent owned and controlled by AEP and 8 percent owned by funds advised by Basalt Infrastructure Partners, LLP. AEP and its partners plan to start construction this year and to be fully operational by the end of 2028.

LCG, October 6, 2026--Google and Constellation Energy today announced a long-term strategic clean energy collaboration to bring 890 MW of new, reliable, carbon-free nuclear capacity onto the PJM Interconnection grid to meet growing demand and increase grid reliability. The first uprate is expected to be delivered by 2028.

CA ISO Submits MD02 Details
LCG, June 18, 2002--The California Independent System Operator gave the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission more details of its California power market plan, MD02.Most of the ISO's plan was submitted in April, but the last details were submitted today.One aspect of the ISO plan instates measures to ensure moderate electricity prices in case FERC does not extend the price cap beyond September 30, which is likely.The ISO plan also reportedly tries to shift electricity trading from the spot market to the forward market, and utilities would have to be able to show their sources of electricity available to meet demand one month in advance. The plan explains how generators both in and out-of-state should make power available for purchase, and it attempts to promote energy development at appropriate physical locations to relieve congestion and provide efficient electricity production. The plan will be evaluated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
