LCG, July 2, 2025--Alliant Energy today announced plans to add up to 1,000 MW of wind energy generating capacity in Iowa to meet demand and ensure reliable, affordable energy for its customers. The plans are included in a filing with the Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC), and the company anticipates a decision from the IUC in the first quarter of 2026.

ComEd, AEP, Illinois Power Join PJM
LCG, June 26, 2002--Commonwealth Edison Co., Illinois Power, and American Electric Power Co. will join the grid operator PJM Interconnection LLC.The utilities intend to create a for-profit independent transmission company with National Grid USA inside PJM's PJM West, although PJM itself is a nonprofit grid operator.The four companies signed a memorandum of understanding and sent it to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission yesterday. ComEd, AEP, and Illinois power will join PJM whether or not the independent for-profit company is finalized.PJM may become a Regional Transmission Operator, or RTO, if FERC decides to give the grid operator approval.
