LCG, May 30, 2025--NuScale Power Corporation (NuScale), a leading provider of advanced small modular reactor (SMR) nuclear technology, yesterday announced that it has received design approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for its uprated 77 MW power modules. NuScale states that it remains the only SMR technology company with design approval from the NRC, and the company remains on track for deployment by 2030, with 50- and 77-MW SMR options.

LCG, May 29, 2025--The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) released an analysis yesterday showing that the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), the grid operator for most of the state, is increasing its curtailment of the rapidly growing solar- and wind-powered generation facilities in order to balance electricity supply and demand, which is necessary to maintain a stable electric system.

Large West Virginia Wind Project Planned
LCG, June 27, 2002--A 66-MW wind farm is planned across two West Virginia counties by FPL Energy, LLC, a unit of FPL Group, Inc.Construction of the Mountaineer Wind Energy Center's 44 1.5-megawatt turbines is scheduled to begin next month, and last until the end of the year. Output from the project is to be sold to Exelon Power Team over 20 years, and will be re-sold on the retail level through marketer Community Energy, Inc.FPL Energy President Ron Green said, "As FPL Energy continues to expand its wind energy business, we're pleased to be locating the largest wind facility in the East in the heart of West Virginia."The project, which was initiated then sold by Atlantic Renewable Energy Corporation of Richmond, Va., will cover 4,400 acres in Tucker and Preston counties.
