Wind Turbines Going Up In Ontario

LCG, July 12, 2002--A wind farm with a maximum output capacity of 9 megawatts is under construction in Ontario, Canada, approximately 165 miles northwest of Toronto.

The expected completion for the Ontario Power Generation-built installation is five months from now. British Energy plc holds a joint interest in Huron Wind with Ontario Power. The five turbines of 1.8 megawatts each were manufactured by Vestas, headquartered in Denmark.

The wind farm is close to Bruce Power stations A and B, which are also owned by British Energy. All are found on the shore of Lake Huron.
