LCG, July 2, 2025--Alliant Energy today announced plans to add up to 1,000 MW of wind energy generating capacity in Iowa to meet demand and ensure reliable, affordable energy for its customers. The plans are included in a filing with the Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC), and the company anticipates a decision from the IUC in the first quarter of 2026.

Armenia Privatizes Energy Industry
LCG, August 27, 2002Yesterday the government of Armenia agreed to sell 81 percent of its electricity system to Midland Resources Holding, Ltd. The British company will share ownership of the system with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Of five companies interested and qualified to purchase Armenias electricity assets, only Midland Resources retained interest in buying. After the Soviet breakdown, Armenia had capacity for only as little as 2 hours per day worth of electricity for some years. The 81 percent of shares went for $37.15 million.
