LCG, October 14, 2026--American Electric Power (AEP) today announced plans for a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google, under which AEP will invest approximately $4 billion to advance a new 702-MW fuel cell generation project located near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Google will acquire power from Cheyenne Fuel Cell, LLC, which is approximately 92 percent owned and controlled by AEP and 8 percent owned by funds advised by Basalt Infrastructure Partners, LLP. AEP and its partners plan to start construction this year and to be fully operational by the end of 2028.

LCG, October 6, 2026--Google and Constellation Energy today announced a long-term strategic clean energy collaboration to bring 890 MW of new, reliable, carbon-free nuclear capacity onto the PJM Interconnection grid to meet growing demand and increase grid reliability. The first uprate is expected to be delivered by 2028.

India Federal Power Secretary Says Country Should Wait to Deregulate Energy
LCG, September 12, 2002-According to the Press Trust of India, India's Federal Power Secretary has said that the country should wait at least ten years to deregulate its electricity industry.Power Secretary R.V. Shahi said that the lack of balance between demand and supply, an unfortunate condition that prevails in India, mandates that deregulation wait.Many regions of the country suffer from regular blackouts or receive no power at all, and much of the power produced is also stolen. Shahi is confident of a future when supply matches demand more closely, but he believes deregulation now will only lead to more chaos.An International conference will be held in New Delhi this October addressing energy regulation in developing countries.
