FERC to Allow Market Design Input until 2003
LCG, October 3, 2002The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will allow industry commentary on its new Western standard market design until January 10 of next year. FERCs standard market design aims to assimilate the countrys electricity transmission lines and cultivate a national electricity market. Western electricity officials and industry members have found that FERCs plan does not take into account several Western electricity market aspects, such as hydroelectric dependence, as well as a variety of agricultural and environmental issues. In addition to extending its comment period from November 15 to January 10, FERC will hold a Western power conference on November 4 in Portland, Oregon to hear concerns.
