LCG, December 12, 2025--Today, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCOT) announced strategic organizational changes designed to accelerate innovation, strengthen grid reliability, and support the unprecedented growth in the demand for electricity across Texas. To meet these objectives, ERCOT created two new organizations: Interconnection and Grid Analysis, and Enterprise Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The two organizations will formally launch in January 2026.

LCG, December 8, 2025--Basin Electric Power Cooperative (Basin Electric) and NextEra Energy Resources, LLC (NextEra) today announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore the joint development of the River Run Energy Center, a new combined-cycle natural gas-fueled generation facility in Basin Electric's North Dakota service territory. The proposed facility will have a planned capacity of approximately 1,450 MW.

New Long-term Power Supply Secured by Hydro-Quebec
LCG, Oct. 4, 2002--Hydro-Quebec today announced it had selected a bid from two companies to supply 1,200 megawatts of power over a twenty-year period, starting in 2007.The selections by the utility, worth C$6 billion ($3.76 billion US), will require approval by the Quebec Energy Board, and are due to be followed next year by requests for further supply offers. The agreements would be signed with Groupe Axor Inc. and Calpine Canada Power Corp., which together will operate a gas-fired generating unit in Varennes, close to Montreal.Hydro-Quebec is also prepared to generate power at its Robert-Bourassa LG-2 generator, a baseload unit, and the LG-1 unit, which will be dispatchable. The utility's sales of power are 156 Twh in the current year, and are scheduled to grow to 165 TWh by 2005. "We will need 1.2 to 1.3 terawatt hours more of electricity per year as of 2006," commented Yves Filion, the president of Hyddro-Quebec's distribution unit.
