LCG, July 2, 2025--Alliant Energy today announced plans to add up to 1,000 MW of wind energy generating capacity in Iowa to meet demand and ensure reliable, affordable energy for its customers. The plans are included in a filing with the Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC), and the company anticipates a decision from the IUC in the first quarter of 2026.

540 MW NY Plant Approved, with Conditions
LCG, October 22, 2002-A Calpine plant was approved by New York state energy officials but was subject to special environmental conditions.The New York Board on Electric Generation forbade any further development on Calpine's plant construction north of New York City until local residents, primarily from the city of Middletown, were satisfied with water supply and discharge terms. Many residents were concerned that a new plant would have a negative effect on groundwater and water quality in the Walkill River.The board is awaiting Calpine's final architectural design before giving the company official approval to construct the Orange County combined-cycle plant.
