LCG, October 14, 2026--American Electric Power (AEP) today announced plans for a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google, under which AEP will invest approximately $4 billion to advance a new 702-MW fuel cell generation project located near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Google will acquire power from Cheyenne Fuel Cell, LLC, which is approximately 92 percent owned and controlled by AEP and 8 percent owned by funds advised by Basalt Infrastructure Partners, LLP. AEP and its partners plan to start construction this year and to be fully operational by the end of 2028.

LCG, October 6, 2026--Google and Constellation Energy today announced a long-term strategic clean energy collaboration to bring 890 MW of new, reliable, carbon-free nuclear capacity onto the PJM Interconnection grid to meet growing demand and increase grid reliability. The first uprate is expected to be delivered by 2028.

Correction: "Judge Rejects CA Refund Claims"
The article as first published on December 13, 2002, mistakenly referred to Federal Administrative Law Judge Bruce Birchman as a Federal Administrative Judge. The former appointment is merit-based under the Administrative Procedure Act of 1946. By contrast, Administrative Judges may be hired and fired at will, and do not have statutory protections of Administrative Law Judges to ensure that decisions, which are rendered based on the hearing record, are fair and impartial. There are more than 1100 merit-appointed Administrative Law Judges at 29 federal agencies and departments. Energyonline regrets the error.
