Calpine Closes Texas Energy Fund Loan for 460-MW Pin Oak Creek Peaking Facility

LCG, October 14, 2025--Calpine Corporation today announced the close of a Texas Energy Fund (TxEF) loan agreement to support development of the Pin Oak Creek project, a 460-MW, natural gas-fired peaking facility adjacent to Calpine's Freestone Energy Center, a gas-fired combined-cycle facility located on approximately 506 acres near Fairfield, Texas.

PJM to Become RTO

LCG, December 18, 2002-Electricity grid operator PJM Interconnection LLC received approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to become a regional transmission organization (RTO).

FERC's approval is part of the commission's larger plan to create a national grid connecting the electricity markets across the country. FERC noted, however, that PJM should improve its connections with the neighboring Midwest Independent System Operator.

FERC will conduct a meeting in October of next year to address transmission and trade between these two neighboring regions.
