LCG, April 24, 2025--Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil) announced yesterday an agreement with Calpine Corporation (Calpine) to transport and permanently store up to 2 million metric tons per annum (MTA) of CO2 from Calpine’s Baytown Energy Center, a natural gas-fired facility located near Houston, Texas. This is part of Calpine’s Baytown Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Project that is designed to add CCS for the facility’s CO2 emissions. The Calpine facility could then provide a 24/7 supply of low-carbon electricity to the Texas grid plus steam to nearby industrial facilities.

LCG, April 21, 2025--NovaSource Power Services ("NovaSource") recently announced that it has partnered with Doral Renewables and has been selected as the Operations and Maintenance ("O&M") and Generator Operator ("GO") for the Mammoth Solar Project, one of the largest agrivoltaics facilities in the United States.

CPUC Plans to Charge "Exit Fee" Aggravate Solar Owners
LCG, March 27, 2003Opposition to a possible California Public Utilities Commission "exit fee" for solar panel owners may sway the commission to abandon it.The California Public Utilities Commission has been planning to apply a fee for leaving the electricity grid. The fee would come as a small measure among many to slowly reverse the states electricity-related budget problem and would apply to solar panels installed since January 17, 2001.Possible fees might be in the range of $0.005 to $0.027 per kilowatt-hour, roughly $2.50 to $13.50 added to the average monthly bill.Meanwhile, those promoting solar and clean power have come to CPUC meetings and spoken in the legislature against any sort of hindrance to people setting up their own clean power.According to Commission Carl Wood, solar panels are likely to be exempted from the fee, but the commission will continue to seek fees from private owners of fossil fuel generators.
