LCG, October 14, 2026--American Electric Power (AEP) today announced plans for a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google, under which AEP will invest approximately $4 billion to advance a new 702-MW fuel cell generation project located near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Google will acquire power from Cheyenne Fuel Cell, LLC, which is approximately 92 percent owned and controlled by AEP and 8 percent owned by funds advised by Basalt Infrastructure Partners, LLP. AEP and its partners plan to start construction this year and to be fully operational by the end of 2028.

LCG, October 6, 2026--Google and Constellation Energy today announced a long-term strategic clean energy collaboration to bring 890 MW of new, reliable, carbon-free nuclear capacity onto the PJM Interconnection grid to meet growing demand and increase grid reliability. The first uprate is expected to be delivered by 2028.

Energy Strike in France Reduces Output and Exports
LCG, June 3, 2003-French workers went on a 24-hour strike Tuesday, reducing electricity output by 6.4 percent.According to the CGT union, output was decreased by as much as 7,300 megawatts. Exports of electricity were reduced by more than 5,000 megawatts.The strike had an effect on 6 of 19 French nuclear plants, as weland hampered operations at fossil fuel-powered plants. France gets 80 percent of its total power from nuclear-based generation.Other union officials said the output would have been more dramatically reduced had several nuclear stations not increased production to prevent blackouts.Workers are striking because of pending pension reforms and the privatization of Electricite de France and Gaz de France.
