California PUC Approves $1 Billion Refund

LCG, September 4, 2003—The California PublicUtilities Commission has decided to give utilitycustomers a $1.002 billion refund reflecting areduction in emergency power purchased.

Customers of Pacific Gas & Electric Company,Southern California Edison, and San Diego Gas &Electric will get a one-time bill credit. Theutilities serve about 28 million people on 10.3million electricity accounts.

The PUC has already stated that Pacific Gas &Electric customers will not receive a credit rightaway since the utility is still involved in bankruptcyproceedings.
