LCG, September 9, 2026--The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) yesterday announced the financial close of a loan of up to $1.9 billion to NextEra Energy to support the finance of the restart of Iowa's only nuclear power plant, the Duane Arnold Energy Center. EDF has now financed three, carbon-free nuclear plant restarts and completed four concurrent conditional commitments and financial closings under the current Administration. This latest investment, along with the others, advance the Administration's energy dominance agenda and Executive Order, Reinvigorating the Nuclear Industrial Base.

Cielo's Texas Wind Project Moves Forward
LCG, December 9, 2004--Cielo Wind Power of Austin is negotiating tax benefits with Oldham County officials for a 160-MW wind project planned west of Amarillo, Texas. Excel Energy will purchase the power from the wind farm, which is scheduled to commence operations late next year. Local officials are considering favorable tax arrangements in order to increase the tax base and hope to reach an agreement with Cielo by the end of the year.According to a spokesperson for Xcel Energy, the transmission capacity in the area is an issue and is approaching limitations. Once the 160-MW wind farm is completed, additional generation cannot be added until a new, 345-kV transmission line is installed. The new transmission line is estimated to cost approximately $50 million and could require roughly three years to complete.
