Calpine Closes Texas Energy Fund Loan for 460-MW Pin Oak Creek Peaking Facility

LCG, October 14, 2025--Calpine Corporation today announced the close of a Texas Energy Fund (TxEF) loan agreement to support development of the Pin Oak Creek project, a 460-MW, natural gas-fired peaking facility adjacent to Calpine's Freestone Energy Center, a gas-fired combined-cycle facility located on approximately 506 acres near Fairfield, Texas.

Proposed Nevada Coal Plant Nears Construction Phase

LCG, July 28, 2005--Newmont Mining Corporation announced that construction of its proposed 200-MW power plant is awaiting final completion of the air permitting process. In its second quarter results released yesterday, Newmont Mining stated that all other required permits have been approved and issued by the appropriate agencies.

The planned location for the coal-fired plant is east of Battle Mountain and three miles north of Interstate 80 on Newmont's TS Ranch. Power generated by the plant will serve mining operations that are currently supplied by Sierra Pacific Power. Coal for the plant would come by rail from the Powder River Basin of Wyoming. The company plans to complete the project in 2007.
