LCG, August 14, 2026--The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced today that it has awarded Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) $271 million to help support the extended operations of the company's nuclear power facility, Diablo Canyon Power Plant, which is located near Avila Beach, California. Steven's Croft Power Station Officially Opens
LCG, March 20, 2008--The Steven's Croft Power Station formally opened yesterday, and the 44-MW facility is now the largest, wood-fired power station in the United Kingdom. The power station is located near Lockerbie in southern Scotland and is owned and operated by E.ON UK.
Steven's Croft Power Station burns forestry residues and willow that is grown as an energy crop for fuel. The use of wood and forestry residues is considered carbon-neutral and can be sustained over the long term by replanting trees.
The facility incorporates a bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) boiler to efficiently burn the wood to create heat for steam generation.
