LCG, November 11, 2025--NextEra Energy Resources, together with local officials, today celebrated the recent start of operations at the Appleseed Energy Center, a 200-MW solar facility located in Cass County, Indiana. NextEra Energy Resources expects the completion of the facility will improve grid reliability and support Northern Indiana Public Service Company, LLC’s (NIPSCO) plans to deliver reliable energy across northern Indiana.

SMMPA to Purchase Energy from 100-MW Wapsipinicon Wind Project
LCG, April 16, 2008--The Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMMPA) executed a 20-year, power purchase agreement (PPA) for the energy produced by Wapsipinicon Wind Project LLC., a subsidiary of enXco. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
The Wapsipinicon Wind Project will be built approximately 90 miles south of Minneapolis in Mower County, Minnesota. The project will include 67 GE wind turbines, each with a capacity of 1.5 MW.
Minnesota adopted a Renewables Portfolio Standard (RPS) for utilities last year that sets rising renewable energy targets of 12% in 2012 up to 25% in 2025.
According to the American Wind Energy Association, Minnesota now ranks third in the United States with respect to wind power generating capacity of 1,299 MW. The top two states are Texas and California, with 4,356 MW and 2,439 MW, respectively. Nationwide, over 5,200 MW of new wind generating capacity was installed last year.
