ACCIONA Completes 46-MW Solar Plant in Portugal

LCG, December 31, 2008--ACCIONA Energy announced Monday that it placed into service a 46-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant built in Portugal's Alentejo region near the border with Spain. The facility was constructed by ACCIONA Solar, a subsidiary of ACCIONA Energy, and is owned by entirely by ACCIONA.

The solar facility consists of 262,080 polycrystalline silicon modules mounted upon 2,520 tracking devices designed by ACCIONA that follow the sun's movement across the sky. Each tracking device is approximately 42.7 feet long and 35.7 feet tall. The footprint of the facility covers nearly 620 acres.

ACCIONA invested approximately $370 million in the project.

An initial, 3-MW phase of the project was operational late in 2007. The entire project was built in thirteen months.
