LCG, March 27, 2025--Avangrid, Inc., a member of the Iberdrola Group, today announced that its True North Solar project, located in Falls County, Texas, has achieved commercial operation. The True North Solar project will deliver electricity into ERCOT and support Meta's operations, including Meta's upcoming data center in neighboring Temple, its second data center in Texas.

LCG, March 26, 2025--Qcells USA Corp. (Qcells), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hanwha Qcells, and Nofar USA (Nofar), a wholly owned subsidiary of Nofar Energy, recently announced a signed agreement to cooperate on the development and construction of two energy storage projects in Texas. The projects have a combined capacity of 350 MW with a 2-hour duration (700 MWh).

LCG Develops Prototype for Real-Time Remedial Action Screening
LCG, May 15, 2015-LCG Consulting of Los Altos, California has completed the development of a prototype that incorporates the basic functionality necessary to prove the effectiveness of the composite Lyapunov function-based transient stability analysis method. LCG has been working on a visual interface that will enable the operator to constantly monitor and analyze the status of the electrical network. With this interface, the operator can conveniently view data on a geographical map. The viewable data include phase angle, frequency, voltage at key substations along with power flows, overloads and other critical information on transmission paths and flowgates.
LCG is a part of a consortium undertaking the project that received a grant under the DOE Advanced Modeling Grid Research Program to develop a Lyapunov function-based remedial action screening (L-RAS) tool that utilizes real-time data. The prototype has been prepared by LCG to test the efficacy of the approach, explore design alternatives and confirm performance prior to starting production of a new product.
Emphasis has been placed primarily on designing the interface to interactively operate the model and dynamically display the impact of Remedial Action Schemes (RAS) in maintaining stability of the power system when large disturbances occur. The data, which is obtained from Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) and processed by state estimators, provides input to a Lyapunov function-based transient stability model. The data, along with the remedial action, is displayed on the visual interface module. In real systems, the data would be derived from the SCADA/EMS.
The prototype can display system conditions in a very intuitive manner along with particulars regarding any faults projected on the geographical map. The operator is immediately alerted to any issues and can track the impact of fault in real time. The visual interface can also display the suggested remedial action as well as the status of the system after the remedial action is exercised.
