LCG, October 16, 2026--The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) announced on Thursday its new proposal to revise and accelerate its review of air quality effects for proposed natural gas projects under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The draft policy statement highlights revisions designed to (i) avoid unnecessary delays and duplicative analysis and (ii) deliver greater regulatory certainty and a streamlined path forward for project applicants.

LCG, October 14, 2026--American Electric Power (AEP) today announced plans for a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google, under which AEP will invest approximately $4 billion to advance a new 702-MW fuel cell generation project located near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Google will acquire power from Cheyenne Fuel Cell, LLC, which is approximately 92 percent owned and controlled by AEP and 8 percent owned by funds advised by Basalt Infrastructure Partners, LLP. AEP and its partners plan to start construction this year and to be fully operational by the end of 2028.

Sempra Acquires 78-MW Wind Project in Minnesota
LCG, April 24, 2015-Sempra U.S. Gas & Power yesterday announced that it has acquired the Black Oak Getty wind project in Sterns County, Minnesota from Geronimo Energy, LLC, a wind and solar energy developer. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2016, and the project is expected be in commercial operation late next year.
Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) will purchase all of the power generated from the wind farm under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA). The purchase will help MMPA meet its renewable energy obligation of 25 percent in 2025.
The president and CEO of Sempra U.S. Gas & Power stated, "We are pleased to have the opportunity to diversify and expand our renewables portfolio through the acquisition, development and operation of the Black Oak Getty wind project. We look forward to providing Minnesota with a stable supply of clean, renewable energy and becoming a long-term partner with the local community through the development and operation of this project."
The Black Oak Getty wind farm is located in central Minnesota. The project is expected to include up to 51 wind turbines.
Once the 78-MW Black Oak Getty project is completed, Sempra U.S. Gas & Power, together with its affiliates and joint-venture partners, will have wind facilities in seven states with a combined generating capacity in excess of 1,200 MW.
