EDF's 154-MW Rock Falls Wind Project Achieves Commercial Operations
LCG, December 15, 2017--EDF Renewable Energy yesterday announced that commercial operations have commenced at its Rock Falls Wind Project in northern Oklahoma. Construction on the project began in July 2017.
EDF announced in September 2017 an agreement with Kimberly-Clark Corporation to purchase 120 MW of the power generated by the wind farm. The power purchase agreement (PPA) is Kimberly-Clark's first use of utility-scale renewable energy and will support Kimberly- Clark to surpass its 2022 commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent four years ahead of schedule.
Kimberly-Clark's Global Head of Sustainability stated, "We are proud to partner with EDF Renewable Energy on the Rock Falls project, which marks a significant step in Kimberly-Clark's Energy and Climate strategy."
The Rock Falls Wind Project is located in Kay and Grant Counties. The facility has an installed capacity of 154 MW and uses Siemens wind turbines manufactured in their Iowa-based facilities.
