LCG, May 14, 2025--The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) accepted Dow's construction permit application to build X-energy Reactor Company, LLC's ("X-energy") first small modular reactor (SMR) plant to power a chemical facility in Seadrift, Texas. Dow's wholly-owned subsidiary, Long Mott Energy LLC, is developing the project to provide Dow's UCC1 Seadrift Operations manufacturing site with safe, reliable, and clean power and industrial steam to replace existing energy and steam assets that are approaching end-of-life. The project is part of a demonstration project supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and, if approved, would be the first advanced nuclear facility at an industrial site in the United States.

Dominion Energy and Facebook Announce Agreement for New Six Solar Projects
LCG, April 24, 2019--Dominion Energy and Facebook announced on Monday plans to dedicate six new solar facilities to Facebook. The six facilities will provide a total of 350 MW of electric generating capacity and will support Dominion Energy's goal of having 3,000 MW of new solar and wind energy in operation or under development by 2022, together with Facebook's goal of supporting their global operations with 100 percent renewable energy by the end of 2020.
Dominion Energy's vice president of Business Development stated, "Facebook has consistently supported the development of green energy around the world, and their corporate sustainability goals are a driving force in the expansion of renewable energy. We are proud to be a trusted energy partner as we actively grow the market for clean energy."
The solar projects will be built in Dominion Energy's service area in Virginia and North Carolina and will gradually come operational by mid-2020. These six facilities are in addition to the two previously announced solar projects in Surry County, Virginia, - Colonial Trail West and Spring Grove 1 - which total 240 MW and were recently approved by the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
The six new projects consist of three projects in Virginia: Montross Solar in Westmoreland County (20 MW, completed), Gloucester Solar in Gloucester, (20 MW, completed), and Grasshopper Solar in Mecklenburg (80 MW). The projects in North Carolina are: Chestnut Solar in Halifax County (75 MW), Pecan Solar in Northampton County (75 MW, completed), and Gutenberg Solar in Northampton County (80 MW).
Dominion Energy developed Montross Solar, and the other projects have or will be acquired from EDF Renewables, Inc., BayWa r.e. Solar Projects LLC, and Strata Solar.
Today, Dominion Energy has over 30 solar facilities totaling 884 MW of solar generation operational or under development in the Commonwealth.
