Duke Unit to Expand Denver Area Gas Liquids Plant

LCG, July 18, 2000--Duke Energy Field Services said yesterday it will more than double processing capacity at its Roggen natural gas processing plant northeast of Denver from 25 million to 55 million cubic feet per day.

Duke said the expansion will provide the capacity needed to handle rapidly rising natural gas supplies resulting from increased drilling activity and improved methods to extract existing proven natural gas reserves in the Denver- Julesburg Basin in the northeast quadrant of the state.

"This project represents our second recent capacity expansion in the D-J Basin," said Michael J.Bradley, senior vice president of Duke Energy Field Services northern division. "In July 1999, we reactivated 25 million cubic feet per day of capacity at our Roggen Plant, incremental capacity that is now fully utilized."

Engineering design and equipment procurement for the Roggen plant expansion are underway, and construction will begin this summer with a December plant start-up anticipated, the company said.

Duke said incremental natural gas liquids produced at the Roggen plant will be delivered into Phillips Pipe Line Company's natural gas liquids line that runs from the Powder River Basin of Wyoming to the Texas Panhandle.
