LCG, April 15, 2026--Suniva announced yesterday that it has entered agreements to bring a state-of-the-art 4.5 GW solar cell manufacturing facility to Laurens, South Carolina. The new facility, combined with Suniva’s existing facility at its headquarters in metro Atlanta, will bring the company’s total annual domestic solar cell manufacturing capacity to over 5.5 GW.

LCG, April 13, 2026--The EIA today released an "In-brief Analysis" of U.S. coal-fired generating capacity retirements in 2025. A highlight of the analysis is that, during 2025, the electric power sector retired 2.6 GW of coal-fired generating capacity at four power plants, which is (i) the least since 2010 and (ii) 5.9 GW less than the planned retirement of 8.5 GW at the beginning of 2025.

Ameren to Create Fuels and Emissions Unit
LCG, Oct. 5, 2000Ameren Corp. said yesterday it would create a new subsidiary, Ameren Energy Fuels and Services Co., to provide about $1 billion in fuel procurement and gas supply services for its affiliated companies and other companies in the Midwest.The new unit will supply coal, natural gas, oil, ash management and emission services to Ameren's 12,000 megawatts of generating capacity and manage the supply of natural gas to Ameren's 300,000 retail gas customers, the company said.Michael G. Mueller, an Ameren vice president who will head up the new unit, said it would "focus on coal, natural gas and related fuel service matters."Ameren said that today its fuels organization annually buys, trades and transports 30 million tons of coal from the Powder River and Illinois basins. The organization operates a fleet of over 5,000 railcarsand is constructing two rail-river transfer terminals.
