Oklo and Siemens Energy Sign Agreement to Accelerate Power Conversion System for New SMR in Idaho

LCG, November 19, 2025--Oklo Inc. and Siemens Energy announced today that the parties have signed a binding contract for the design and delivery of the power conversion system for Oklo’s Aurora-INL (Idaho National Laboratory) nuclear small modular reactor (SMR). The agreement authorizes Siemens Energy to begin engineering and design work to expedite procurement of long-lead components and to initiate the manufacturing process for the power conversion system. Oklo’s expertise in advanced fission technology will be combined with Siemens Energy’s extensive industry experience with steam turbine and generator systems, with the ultimate goal of generating carbon-free, reliable electricity.

NERC's New Winter Reliability Assessment Raises Concerns for Elevated Risk of Insufficient Supplies to Meet Demand in Extreme Operating Conditions

LCG, November 19, 2025--NERC yesterday released its 2025–2026 Winter Reliability Assessment (WRA), which concludes "much of North America is again at an elevated risk of having insufficient energy supplies to meet demand in extreme operating conditions." The WRA does state that resources are adequate for normal winter peak demand, but extended, wide-area cold snaps will be challenging.

Czech Temelin Trips During Cooling System Test

LCG, Nov. 20, 2000--The reactor at the Temelin nuclear power plant in the Czech Republic automatically shut itself down without incident during cooling system tests early Saturday morning, but was restarted later in the day, a plant official said.

Yesterday, the plant was running at 5.2 percent of its potential capacity, up from 2.5 percent last week, according to Milan Nebesar, a Temelin spokesman

At 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, a signal sent out during a test of the cooling system in the plant's reactor was falsely interpreted by the automatic control system, according to Pavel Pitterman, a spokesman for the Czech Nuclear Safety Office. "Nothing serious occurred," Pitterman said, adding that details surrounding the incident would be known today when the whole procedure would be repeated.

"There was no accident and no anomaly," Nebesar said, adding that a detailed report on the incident had been sent to government officials in neighboring Austria.

After Temelin's reactor reaches commercial operation next year, work will begin to prepare a second reactor for its start-up. When both units are operational, expected in 2002, the plant will supply around 20 percent of the electricity needs of the Czech Republic.
